Coca-Cola and global star set to release anthem “Colors” in celebration of the world’s biggest football tournament
Los Angeles, 16th February: Coca-Cola today announced that global music superstar, Jason Derulo, will be creating the sound track to its 2018 FIFA World Cup™ campaign.
Coca-Cola and Jason Derulo have teamed-up to create the Coca-Cola anthem for the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ – “Colors”. The song is a true collaboration between Coca-Cola and Jason Derulo and celebrates all of the vibrancy and excitement that comes with the arrival of the world’s biggest football tournament.
Ricardo Fort, VP of Global Sports Partnerships at The Coca-Cola Company said, “We know that the FIFA World Cup is a global cultural and social phenomenon. Every four years, people are drawn to this event from all over the world due to the excitement and platform it provides. “Colors” will become the sound track to fans’ excitement for the tournament, as it begins playing across the world in the build up to the kick off.

To extend the collaborations across the world, Coca-Cola invited local artists from the African continent including South Africa, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Ethiopia to collaborate with Jason Derulo to create uniquely African anthems for each of their countries. In South Africa, multi-award-winning artist, Refiloe Phoolo, better known as Cassper Nyovest, was selected to represent the country on a global stage.
Cassper Nyovest mentioned, “Coming from a nation of colourful people this anthem will speak to South Africans as the song captures our passions for football and Coca-Cola. Working with Coca-Cola and Jason Derulo, has been a thrilling journey and we hope that this anthem will be well received by fans getting #Ready for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.”
With the tournament fast approaching, the partnership with Derulo marks the latest chapter in the marketing campaign from Coca-Cola and follows the beverage brand’s signing of its first ever-virtual ambassador, Alex Hunter within EA FIFA 18 game, and the launch of the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola.

The much anticipated unveiling of Sun International’s Time Square was marked by a dramatic light and pyrotechnics display on Saturday 1 April 2017. Revellers at the music festival featuring Bobby van Jaarsveld and Desmond and the Tutus amongst others watched in awe as the Time Square building sprung to life and appeared to shift and move with lighting effects. The dazzling light display culminated with fireworks bursting into the night sky. Quiet fireworks were used in line with Sun International’s community commitment.
The official ribbon cutting, hailing the start of a new era of entertainment in Tshwane, took place on Saturday morning. From 12h00 onwards, the festival area between Time Square and Central Square was abuzz with activity. Jacaranda FM broadcast live from the venue and there was a string of bands in the mix. Taking to the stage during the afternoon were Adelle Nqueto, Sutherland, Majozi, Bobby van Jaarsveld and Desmond and the Tutus. The music festival and lighting display were free to attend.
Opening with the casino are 18 new restaurants and bars by an eclectic ensemble of South African and international personalities. Each is individual in concept and character to deliver a distinctive experience.
There are three unique establishments on the upper level: Forti Grill & Bar by Fortunato Mazzone (the charismatic South African chef, radio personality and owner of the multiple award winning Ristorante Ritrovo); Something’s Cooking with J’Something by Joao da Fonseca (the lead singer of Mi Casa and well known culinary artiste – aka J’Something) and Guy Fieri’s Kitchen and Bar by Guy Fieri (American celebrity chef, restaurateur and TV host of Guy’s Big Bite and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives).
The next phase, construction of a state of the art, 8 500 seat Arena, will be complete in November this year, followed by phase three, The Maslow Time Square hotel in March 2018. Rare Small Batch Tradicional® Reposado from the Original World-Class Producer
South Africa, 28th January, 2016 –Jose Cuervo® has launched its rare small batch premium sipping tequila in South Africa.
Jose Cuervo® Tradicional® Reposado (meaning rested) is made from the highest quality 100% blue agave spirits, double-distilled and rested in white oak barrels, hand-crafted in small batches and follows an unaltered recipe since 1795.
Tradicional® is the original tequila produced 220 years ago by Jose Cuervo®, the world’s number one tequila. “Tradicional® is unlike any other tequila and due to the fermentation and distillery methods is produced specifically for sipping,” says Blue Masoka, Brand Manager for Jose Cuervo® at Edward Snell & Co. the local distributors for the brand.
“There is a growing trend in craft spirits and consumer need for authenticity coupled with the fact that Jose Cuervo® as a brand has a massive consumer following we believe a premium sipping tequila will be well received by South African tequila aficionados,” Masoka says.
South Africa is currently ranked the 4th largest tequila market in the world, behind Mexico, USA and Russia and has gained prominent land status in the eyes of spirit producers, according to data by Euromonitor International. According to insights from the latest IWSR report, globally the tequila market trends continue to grow in the premium-and-above sectors.
“Tradicional® Reposado is a pale straw-coloured 100% blue agave rested tequila, made from agaves harvested at the peak of their maturity (7-10 years), baked in stone clay ovens, carefully fermented and double-distilled in small artisanal stills and then rested in white oak barrels,” she explains. “Tradicional® is rested for no less than four months which mellows and refines the tequila, producing a combination of superb smoothness and great taste.”
Masoka says: “Tradicional® is still made the same as it was back in 1795 by Jose Cuervo himself, and it is the first documented tequila ever made, carefully fermented and double distilled it remains a proud symbol of the Cuervo® family tradition, demonstrating ‘history in a bottle’.”
“Tradicional® is made from an unaltered 220 year old recipe, resulting in the world’s finest tequila and in order to preserve the authenticity of Tradicional® each bottle (designed after the original tall, slim Cuervo® bottle) has a cork closure and carries its own unique number,” she adds.
Tradicional® unlocks original and refined characterful flavours resulting in a super-premium sipping tequila that is clean in taste and well balanced in finish, best served chilled in a snifter glass or sipped from a caballito shot glass with craft beer (signature serve).
“In Mexico it is customary to sip Tradicional® with sangrita or a cold beer and with the craft beer trend surging in South Africa and abroad it was a natural fit to develop a signature serve,” she adds. “This is in line with the trends and maintains the historical way in which Tradicional® is served. South Africans are unfamiliar with the notion of sipping tequila, so it is important for us to instill this concept and to maintain the tradition of Tradicional®.”

Delivering a smooth, well-structured palate of fine spices and distinct oak notes unlike any other tequila.
Flavour notes: Delicate, tissue box perfume and exotic peppercorn and cooked agave aromas, with herbaceous hints of olive, fruit (banana) and a light wood overtone.

Two days ago, December 9th, visitors to the pop-up Heineken® Next Level Bar in Braamfontein got to #OpenNextLevel with a totally unique sensory experience dubbed Edible Music.
By combining a gastronomical chef, brilliant creative minds, Heineken® and a bit of fancy science, a way was found for people’s response to food stimulus to be translated into music. Cool, right?
It all started when Heineken® invited music producer Nicolaas van Reenen and chef Jade de Waal to embark on a next level sensory experiment. The aim: to convert flavours into measurable brain waves and translate these into sound waves to create music. To achieve this, Jade cooked up three taste profiles, with Heineken® as the fourth. Wearing an EEG (Electroencephalography) device, which measures the electrical activity on the surface of the scalp, Nicolaas was exposed to the various tastes and Neural Sense measured his emotional and cognitive response. Using the neurofeedback and biometric data from this session, Nicolaas then transformed the taste experience into a next level audio experience – turning brain waves and heart-rate waves into sound waves.
The experiment and outcome were so cool that Heineken® couldn’t give up the opportunity to let consumers go through the same process and have their unique sound waves added to the “neuro-soundscape” originally created by Nicolaas, which played as the soundtrack in the bar.
“The innovative bar, designed to emulate the sleek new 330ml Heineken® Cool Can, was developed as an intimate space for creatives to meet, collaborate and share experiences such as this. More next level experiences, activations and exhibits are planned over the next couple of days, until the bar closes onSaturday 12th December,” says Tjeerd Veldhuis (Marketing Manager, Heineken® South Africa).
