June 28th  Los Angeles, U.S.A – Last night the three winning writer / directors of the 2015 Jameson First Shot competition presented and screened their final films to an eagerly awaiting crowd at LA paramount Pictures studio. Over the past few months, the winners have been bringing their short film scripts to life with the expert help of Academy Award-winner Kevin Spacey, Dana Brunetti, President of Trigger Street productions and lead actor, Adrien Brody.

Travis Calvert from the US, Mark Middlewick from South Africa and Stephan Tempier from Canada were chosen by the internationally acclaimed short film competition, that gives undiscovered filmmakers a real chance to break into the film industry. Following in the footsteps of Kevin Spacey, Willem Dafoe and Uma Thurman, this year the chosen three directed Academy Award-winner, Adrien Brody as the lead in their films, all with the backing and expertise of award-winning production company, Trigger Street Productions.

US winner, Travis Calvert said Having made my film in LA with Adrien & Trigger Street, I can honestly say that winning the Jameson First Shot has been a once in a lifetime opportunity that has left me feeling honored, humbled, grateful, inspired, and hopeful for the future’.
Travis’s script entitled ‘The Library Book’ tells the story of Desmond, a modest man, and his encounter with a stern librarian. Whilst returning an overdue book to a failing library, Desmond finds himself embroiled in existential discussions and unexpected outcomes.

A rigorous judging process led by Trigger Street, saw Travis, Mark and Stephan shortlisted to direct a short film and submit a director’s treatment before the most compelling scripts were chosen. The competition’s creative director and producer, Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti, surprised the aspiring filmmakers with Skype calls to tell them they had won. You can see the reactions as Travis, Stephan and Mark were told they had won on the Jameson YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/FxSZ9HqryQg?list=PLbZF8NEyrUs6zIlHjYlFvKxpibSubgs9f

Kevin Spacey commented: “If you’ve been successful at the career you wanted to have, it’s your obligation to spend a good proportion of your time sending the elevator back down.  Jack Lemmon taught me that. It’s not about where someone is in terms of their talent or accomplishments when they begin, it’s about where they might get in 10 years if they are encouraged, nurtured and guided.”

Dana Brunetti, President of Trigger Street productions added: “Our job is to give these aspiring filmmakers a real world production experience.  Something that is applicable towards a career in the film business.  It’s up to them what they do with it next.”

Adrien Brody also commented: “Jameson First Shot affords talented writer/directors an important gift: the confidence to exercise fearlessness and the opportunity to materialise their dreams.”
