In July 2015, Ed Sheeran became the first artist to perform solo at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium – for three historic nights, a combined crowd of 240 000 passionate fans, and just the man himself on stage.
If you have been longing to see UK singing sensation Ed Sheeran Ster-Kinekor is bringing this concert to you on the big screen – for one night only! On Thursday, 22 October at 19:45, the world premiere of the much anticipated Ed Sheeran – Jumpers for Goalpostsfilm will be screened in its entirety at select Ster-Kinekor cinemas.
This spectacular concert film will include ‘green carpet’ highlights and Ed’s captivating performances from the three biggest shows of his career. It will be presented alongside an exclusive live performance by Ed Sheeran, broadcast via satellite from London’s Leicester Square into cinemas around the world – including South Africa!
This exclusive cinema event is an open invitation to Sheeran’s local fans to experience his ‘great moment at its greatest’, on the big screen with crystal clear images and quality surround sound.
Ed wows the crowd with major hits from his chart-topping album, X, including The A Team, Don’t, Sing and the worldwide smash,Thinking Out Loud.  He’s even joined on stage by the legendary Sir Elton John, much to the surprise and delight of the rapturous crowd.
Speaking about the upcoming premiere of the concert, Sheeran shares: “I’m proud of this film because my biggest achievement as a musician has been to play at the Wembley Stadium. So, join me as I head down the ‘Ed’ carpet where I will be performing a special live set exclusively for my fans.”
As well as his breath-taking onstage performance, Jumpers for Goalposts intercuts the story of Ed’s triumphant road to Wembley, selling millions of albums, collecting multiple awards and playing to audiences in every corner of the planet along the way.
The film presents a revealing and personal glimpse into life backstage and on the road, along with honest and intimate reflection by Ed – and those closest to him – on just how far he has come in such a short time. This special global cinema event is an invitation for Ed’s millions of fans to join him around the world and celebrate what he has achieved so far, before inevitably he moves the goalposts once again.
The Jumpers for Goalposts – X Tour at Wembley Stadium concert documentary was directed by Paul Duggal and produced by Stefan Demetriou, Julie Jaobek and Jim Parsons. The film provides a full package experience as fans will follow Sheeran’s journey to Wembley, offering personal insights into life backstage and on the road.
