Motshegofadiwa Primary School has a colourful future ahead

November 2015 The happiest 5K on the planet splashed the Centurion Rugby Club with bright and beautiful colours on the 31st October for the Pretoria leg of The Color Run series brought to you by Capitec Bank.
 
Headline sponsor Capitec Bank, shares The Color Run’s passion for social upliftment and will donate R 10 from each ticket sold to a school for much-needed resources. For Pretoria, Motshegofadiwa Primary School has been identified from a list provided by the Adopt-A-School Foundation. The funds raised by Capitec and The Color Run will be used to assist with a primary school library books, school uniforms for orphaned children and administrative resources.
 
“The resource needs of Motshegofadiwa Primary School are in line with what Capitec works to achieve through our CSI. Not only did The Color Run bring joy to the participants in this fun run event but also new opportunities and hopes for better education to the learners at Motshegofadiwa  Primary School ,” says Capitec Bank spokesperson Charl Nel.
 
To introduce a fun element and raise awareness for the partnership, more than 350 colourful soccer balls were displayed in a giant tackie installation at the Pretoria event. These will be distributed between all the recipient schools after the completion of The Color Run series to help boost the schools’ sports equipment in the year.
 
The tackie sculpture, built out of 100% recyclable mild steel, was created by well-known Durban artist Andries Botha. “It allowed runners to engage with the initiative at the event. They were able to take fun photos with the shoe and our freestyle ball kickers provided entertainment with their excellent skill,” says Nel.
 
Motshegofadiwa is classified as a primary school (Grade R – 7) that accommodates xxx learners. Located in Stinkwater – 58km North of Pretoria in Gauteng, the school community is characterised by extreme poverty and high levels of unemployment.  Despite the lack of physical and educational resources, the school is run by an excellent management team and enthusiastic and passionate educators.
 
 
The Color Run is the largest 5km event series in the world. During 2014, it hosted more than 300 events in over 50 countries.
