TCM CELEBRATES THE WORLD’S MOST FAMOUS MO’S IN SUPPORT OF MOVEMBER

November 2015, Johannesburg – Turner Africa has pledged its support in promoting global men’s health issues, by partnering with the global Movember Foundation for the second consecutive year. The broadcaster’s popular TCM Channel (DStv channel 137) gets hairy this November by screening a number of popular Movember-related movies, starring some of Hollywood’s favourite actors sporting famous moustaches, throughout the month.

As men the world over prime their ‘Mo’s,’ TCM is supporting this worthy cause by celebrating moustaches of all colours, styles and sizes every Saturday during November, from 20:00. Viewers are in for a treat with a weekly double feature of the silver screen’s most memorable Mo’s, including Shaft (1971), The Sting (1973) and The Big Lebowski (1998).

Since its establishment in 2003, more than five million people have taken part in Movember activities, becoming walking, talking billboards for men’s health. Their involvement results in much needed funds towards crucial health issues, such as prostate and testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.

As an ever-growing brand across the continent with a large male following, TCM is inviting its viewers to grow a moustache and get involved by taking action when it comes to issues around men’s health, and to help raise funds for this worthy cause.

“We are proud to support the Movember Foundation as it helps us to bring key issues to our viewers for discussion, interrogation and, most importantly, support. As our audience enjoys the great programming we have lined up on TCM during Movember, we hope this will encourage people to identify ways in which they can take a brave step towards creating a positive change for men’s health,” explains Guillermo Farre, TCM’s Head of General Entertainment Channels for Africa.

Following a channel relaunch in April 2015, TCM has upgraded its programming to include contemporary productions and original titles from Hollywood studios from the 1970s to the 21st century. The channel’s programming line-up now includes action blockbusters, chilling thriller specials, romantic comedies, dramas and exclusive TCM documentaries.

So, programme your viewing for the double feature of Mo’ movies every Saturday from 20:00, and stay tuned to TCM for the best in modern classic movies (DStv channel 137).
