If you’re in the mood for a spine-tingling thriller with a touch of terror and some horror thrown in for good measure, then Guillermo del Toro’s new release Crimson Peak is just the movie for you this Halloween month.
CRIMSON PEAK: the IMAX Experience® releases in Ster-Kinekor’s IMAX® theatres across the country on Friday, 30 October. This creepy, Gothic romance film set in a crumbling mansion in Cumbria, tells the story of a young author, Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska), and her charming new husband, Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston), whom she soon realizes is not the man he appears to be.
Shortly after moving into his eerie mansion atop a mountain of blood-red clay in northern England, Cushing discovers that her new home harbours ghostly mysterious entities that her husband and his sister, Lady Lucille Sharpe, desperately and fiercely try to hide. Between desire and darkness, mystery and madness, lies the real truth behind Crimson Peak. The search for it leads Cushing to a chilling discovery that forces her to fight for her sanity… and her very life.
The IMAX release of Crimson Peak has been digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of an IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The spine-tingling, Crimson Peak leaves its eerie mark on the IMAX® screens at Ster-Kinekor Gateway in Durban, The Grove in Pretoria, Cape Gate in Cape Town, Baywest Mall in Port Elizabeth and Cradlestone Mall in Krugersdorp, from Friday, 30 October. The running time of the film is 1hr 59mins, and it carries a 16HSV classification.
